PolyNome’s Practice Log is where you go to see all the details of your practice including:

  • When you last worked on something
  • How long you spent practicing it
  • How the practice time compared to the previous period
  • What tempos you practiced at
  • How many days in a row you practiced
  • Charts of how you spent your time
  • Progress towards specific goals
  • Any notes you made for yourself

Opening the Practice Log

You can open the Practice Log in different ways depending on what you want to see:

  • All Practice: Choose “Practice Log” in the main menu
  • Current Preset: Tap the Preset name, and choose Practice Log
  • Current Playlist: Tap the chart button in the Playlist header

(Note: you can also tap the chart button in the list of Presets or Playlists)

Anatomy of the Practice Log

(1) Filter Settings

At the top of the practice log page you see the current filter settings. These will differ depending on the method that you opened the Practice Log:

    • If you opened the Practice Log from the main menu, you’ll see statistics for Everything.
    • If you opened the Practice Log from a chart button for a specific Preset or Playlist, you’ll see stats for just that item.

You can tap on any of the date labels, or tempo labels, or the “All Durations” to customise the filters dictating what you see in the stats below.

(2) Journal/Charts/Goals

Below the filter, you have buttons for opening the Journal, Chart view and for setting a Goal (or toggling between Goal and Previous stats if a goal is already set)

(3) Statistics

In the statistics section you can see the time you’ve spent practicing for different time periods.

At the top, you see the time for today, vs the time for the last time you practiced. This might be yesterday, or it might be longer ago. The smaller text below shows you when you last practiced and for how long.

Below, you’ll see similar stats for 7-day, 30-day, and 365-day periods. By default, these show you how the current period compares to the previous period. If you manage to make the circles green, it means you’re always matching, or beating, the practice time of your former self!

Below the 365 row you can see the total practice for all time.

Below that, you’ll see your current practice streak – how many days in a row you’ve practiced. The smaller text shows you your best streak.
