This is a crazy exercise from @joelturcotte on Instagram.
It begins with a septuplet pattern in the hands with a backbeat on the 2 and 4.
Then, there’s a rhythmic pattern based on playing 2 notes out of a grouping of 5 notes: 1 – 2 – –
This rhythm is played at the septuplet rate.
Those notes are then split between kick and hi hat in different rudiments. First singles, then doubles, then paradiddles.
It’s hard!
