What About Android?
A NOTE FROM JOE
Why no Android version?
There isn’t an Android version of PolyNome or Rhythm Generator, and one isn’t planned for the foreseeable future.
PolyNome has taken more than 14 years of work to reach where it is today. I’m a gigging drummer as well as a developer, so the time I have for development is limited.
The project contains over 50,000 files, some with many thousands of lines of code. Bringing all of that to Android would be a huge, multi-year project, even with additional developers and AI.
I already use AI heavily to help me develop new features. Even with that help, it can still take months to get a new feature right. AI is a valuable part of the process, but a project on this scale still takes a great deal of time and care.
I’d love to see Android versions someday, but I don’t want to give you the impression that they’re coming soon.

ANOTHER WAY TO PLAY
A dedicated device.
For your practice.
You can keep your Android phone and use a second-hand or refurbished iPhone or iPad to run PolyNome or Rhythm Generator.
It doesn’t have to be the newest model. An older device that supports iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 can become part of your practice setup, with access to other Apple music apps too.
Buying a device? Plan for iOS 26.
The minimum requirement may move to iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 in the near future. If possible, choose a device that supports version 26 so you’re better placed for future updates.
Check Apple’s iOS 26-compatible iPhones and iPadOS 26-compatible iPads.
Current minimum requirements for both apps. Check the PolyNome and Rhythm Generator App Store listings before buying a device.
THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST
I’d love to hear from you.
I know this isn’t the answer Android users hoped for. Thank you for your interest and support. If you get an Apple device just to run PolyNome or Rhythm Generator, let me know.
