Will PolyNome Be Available For Android?

For the time being, and foreseeable future, PolyNome is iOS only.

At the time of writing (11 Jan, 2022) it’s taken over 9 years of development to get PolyNome to the stage it’s at.  I’m still working on new features for iOS that I really want to get into the app.

PolyNome is a relatively niche product and the costs involved in getting something to work on Android are much higher than for iOS. I’m also a gigging drummer, and only have so many hours in the day.

I understand there’s a big community of Android users who would love to have PolyNome. If I dropped everything now, and worked on an Android version 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, it would probably still be more than a year or two until anything was ready.  And I just don’t have anywhere near that amount of time.

There’s a lot of bespoke coding in PolyNome that means it wouldn’t be an easy thing to port across, even with another developer involved.

I would like to work on this in the future, but I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up that it’ll be available any time soon.

Possible Solution

In the meantime, if you really want to be able to use PolyNome, the latest version will  run on any iOS device running iOS14+

If you have an iOS device running iOS12/13 you’ll be able to install a slightly older version of PolyNome, but not get the latest updates.

You can buy a second hand iPhone 6S for under $100. That’s less than the cost of a Dr. Beat metronome!

You then have a device that can run any other iOS apps you might be interested in, along with the most powerful metronome app on the planet.

In short, I’m sorry I can’t bring PolyNome to Android right now. I hope you understand.
