The solo vamp from Snarky Puppy’s “What About Me?” is an immensely fun thing to solo over.
Based around groups of 5 notes it’s very tricky to know where the 1 is if you’re not familiar with it.
The AutoVoiceCount feature of PolyNome makes it really easy to get to grips with the time.
Once you’re comfortable you can mute the 16ths, or 8ths and just hear the 1/4 note. PolyNome even counts the bars for you!
Later, you can change the Overlay Sounds and set a regular click sound (instead of the voice counting), or just mute the click all together and play along to the vamp only.
